Neuro-Arts Program

Creative arts play an important role in the neurological development of children with special needs, providing another language through which they may explore, understand and connect with the world.

Our music, art, drama and dance/movement groups will nurture your child’s creative strengths while developing increased awareness, self-expression, socialization and personal growth in an enjoyable and supportive environment.

Music, through instruments, rhythm and song, captures and maintains attention, promotes group cohesion and channels self-stimulatory behavior into more appropriate expression.

Art, through materials such as paint, clay and collage, provides a non-threatening process that leads to deeper levels of awareness and expression, allowing the child’s inner world to be comfortably shared with others.

Dance/Movement, through an active process that promotes body awareness, sensory integration, self-expression and social connection, helps children define healthy physical boundaries and channel underlying feelings.

Drama, through costumes, role-play and pretend, empowers children to safely explore new social situations and roles, while building greater emotional awareness and expressive language skills.
